| life as we don't know it yet... |
[Oct. 1st, 2009|02:08 pm] |
I'm writing about the schedule of my life for the next 4 days...because I get bombarded with IMs everytime I sign on and can no longer be productive at the same time, lol. So, here ya go:
I spent alllllllll morning today on the phone trying to set up some utility stuff for the apartment. I can't tell you how much I hate customer service agents...(maybe minus the very cute sounding guy on the phone with Dominion Virginia ;-)... he was very nice and he got me the Verizon FiOS triple play for less than I was going to be paying for just Internet and cable with Cox Communications, woohoo!) But, anyways, I've got my electric guy coming to the apartment tomorrow, the gas heating guy coming on Monday during the day, and the Verizon guy coming on Wednesday night. That's right, no internet/tv until Wednesday. That means I get a break from the world for a couple of days! WOOHOO!
I have to call my landlord on Saturday morning so that I can meet him for the key to the apartment. That'll probably be between 9 and 10AM so that I can unpack a lot of that stuff and then drive to Ikea to get all of my furniture in. I am so excited for all of this, it's just all happening soooooo fast. That, and I really don't like to use the phone. Anyways, it's done. I also had to call and cancel my Cox Communications internet/tv package that I ordered last night... the lady said that it was all cancelled, which is great, but then I got an order confirmation email about a half hour later. I hope that's just a glitch. Otherwise, I'll have to make some more angry calls because I don't want their services. Nope. Not a bit.
I'm so excited about this, though. My car also is FINALLY getting fixed, and it should be done tomorrow, thank goodness! (because I really need it!) Packing is going to be amazingly easy. Most of my stuff is all packed from college, I'm just going to bring pretty much all of that stuff down with me. I'll figure everything else out when I get down there I guess. I have to call my HR rep from In-Depth, to make sure that I can rent the van okay for tomorrow. Sooooo exciting! |

| | "For Martha" -The Smashing Pumpkins | ] | Hey all,
i'm sorry if I've been a bit vague or flighty with any of you at all the past 3 weeks. In case you didn't know, my grandpa was taken to the hospital a few weeks ago and we were told that he was almost immediately terminal, due to all of his strokes and the other nightmares that have happened over the past 11 years when he first got sick. My mom spends most of her time down at my grandmas and at the nursing home where they moved him for comfort care (no medicines and no more medical testing) and it's been hard too without her around. I'm not used to having to keep a house sane, it's usually mom's job. It's been weird. Anyways... I might not be around much for a while, as grandpa died about an hour ago. Mom called Dad from the nursing home. I'm really glad I'm not there, I guess they're taking it really hard. I'm trying not to be too upset about it, because he's been sick for a long time, it's just kinda hard because I've never lost a grandparent before. It's a blessing, really, to have kept all of my grandparents so long, and they all saw me graduate (on tape of course :-) ).
I think that this might throw a lot of my plans for this week and the upcoming week up in the air. I don't know when grandpa's wake and funeral are going to be. I'm guessing though, that the wake will be all this next week and that grandpa's funeral will be next saturday or sunday. I really don't know, I've never been to a funeral before. Go figure.
Thanks for listening. I'm glad I have such good friends. You're all a blessing to me! <3
I could really use a job to keep me busy. I'm readjusting my career search to focus on opportunities where I would have a lot of potential, whereever they might take me. I'm focusing on companies now that have Leadership Programs, like GE, Lockheed Martin, Johnson & Johnson, and etc. If I apply for enough of these programs, someone has to accept me, right? Maybe this is what I've been waiting for. I think that my willingness to relocate will help me as well, I've been itching to get out and see the world a bit, since I've spent all summer in my house, cooped up and looking for jobs. I'd be doing much better for myself by applying to these purposeful jobs where I have a lot of opportunites to learn and grow. In the vein of changing around my priorities, I've also discovered that I really enjoy being single and flexible to go and do whatver I need to when I need to. I look forward (far in the future) to putting a stake in the ground somewhere, sometime, but it's definitely not going to be now, not when the world still needs me at my full potential. :-) Not when I still need me at my full potential. Something's coming, something good. |
